March 23-27, 2015 marked the University Of Connecticut School Of Law’s fifth annual Diversity Week. Organizations at the school and in the community hosted events throughout the week highlighting their commitment to diversity and inclusion. Shipman & Goodwin has been the exclusive sponsor of Diversity Week for the past three years.
The theme for Diversity Week 2015 is “Youth and the Legal Profession.” Events celebrated Connecticut’s youth, with several of Hartford’s young population in the crowd of every day’s events.
The afternoon event on March 25 was titled “The CHRO Presents: Bullying and the Law”. CHRO Investigator Michael Roberts was a panelist along with Thomas Mooney of Shipman & Goodwin and Marisa Halm from The Center for Children’s Advocacy. Jocelyn Kennedy moderated the discussion. They provided a well-rounded discussion on Connecticut’s laws that protect students from bullying and harassment.
Other events from Diversity Week included:
- Equal Education and Discrimination: A Discussion on Affirmative Action
- The T-Word: Lived Realities and Legal Issues of Transgender Youth
- Justice or Just Us?
- And many more!
Staff members from the CHRO were excited to attend and participate in the many different events throughout the week.
